Spare Tire Mounting Options

So after blowing out a 285 and having to run the 255 for 100 miles, I'd like to get a full size spare. Problem is it won't fit in the stock location because of the exhaust. So, where are you mounting your oversized spares?

Thanks in advance.

I still have my factory 265 spare underneath, even though I run 285's, 315's for awhile.

It's a bit more work but if I am in the position of needing the spare, it goes on the front no matter what. If a rear goes flat, I move a front tire to the rear and put the spare on the front. Obviously if a front goes flat, the spare goes on the front.

Sure it means changing one extra tire but it saves having to get a bigger tire underneath, besides, there is nothing wrong with the factory Michelin spare so why get rid of it.

In over 200,000 miles, only had to swap front to rear once so I'm doing pretty good with my way of justifying a smaller spare.

I've got a 285 spare (worn tire, best of the four when I last replaced them) hanging in the stock location with a 4" exhaust... don't have any clearance issues with it... never tried to mount a new 285 spare underneath though...

I have a 315/70/17 under my truck. It just resides up against the frame rail.

I'd try getting it up under the bed in the stock location, anywhere else and its in the way.

I have quite a bit of room between my 4" and the stock spare in my truck, even an inch would probably be enough clearance I would think.
