Snow Plow Prep

I have this on mine. What did I get besides losing the tow hooks and skid plate? Don't diesels already have the big batteries?

Heaviest front springs, mine still came with tow hooks, not sure about a different oil or trans. cooler.

00Dog, u do not have heavier front springs ... Dodge stopped doing this a while ago ... u have the same springs as everyone else with the same model (reg, quad or mega).
Along with the TC skid plate and 750 amp batteries u also get the 160 amp alternator ... that's it as far as I could find out direct from Dodge ... fwiw.
I also ordered mine with the Tow Pkg and the Protection Group so all I got out of the Plow Prep was the alternator ... still can't figure out why they call it the "Heavy-Duty Snow Plow Prep. Group"
And I also have the Tow Hooks (part of Protection Group)

No leveling kit on mine. Just snow plow prep. Are you sure the springs are not different?

My truck did not come with the plow prep package. However, I got a set of springs from a guy who said his truck came with it. I compared the springs and they were identical to mine. Although, my 04.5 sat higher than my friend's early 04, so maybe my truck came with the heavier springs.

I think those were my springs you got. I know for a fact I had SPP package. I also thought the SPP springs had a heavier spring rate. Most of the time, on snow plow prep packages, the springs don't make the truck sit higher when stock, they just reduce the front end sag when the plow is on. I would think that the Dodge SPP springs would be a higher spring rate to keep the axle from hitting the bumpstops when the plow is attached.

Surfram,

Did you measure the rear end drop from the topper and whatever is inside? I had a 2" levelling kit on my 04.5 and it was nose up with the topper and about 300lbs in the bed. That topper and a little more weight inside will almost level it out. Also, your exhaust pipe is bent downward, you might want to fix that

My stainless turndown keeps my quarterpanel and bumper clean, not covered in soot. In the top and bottom pics, the bed is completely empty. I'll take some measurements this week and get the part number for my springs to maybe put this SPP thing to rest.

Read awhile back (either on this board or another) that to upgrade to the snow plow prep springs, you buy a new left front from the prep option, and move the existing left front spring to the right front.

DJ, I think you are correct. I got in touch with you over on TDR about the springs. Doesn't matter anyway, it helped my buddy out with his 04 and 8ft Western.
