Buying new is a wate of money but check your local used classified like Craigslist & Kijiji....these show up cheap on there often.

Maybe a roll of Duct-Tape or J-B Weld should hold that's cheap

No I'm saving the duct-tape and J-B weld to patch the roof of the camper.

Having been involved in an accident with a slide in camper, that I was IN at the time, where a wheel came OFF the truck, causing the momentum to rip the mounts off the truck, causing the camper to fly off the truck, and onto the freeway.. I will say this.. BUY FRAME MOUNT TIE DOWNS, and not the cheapo happijack ones that bolt to the bumper and bedside... Do not go cheap on these...
And before anyone says anything, yes, I know it was stupid to be in the camper while we were traveling... At the time, I was 9 years old....

Just my experience. I am sure there are plenty of people that have used the happi jack and other body mounted camper mounts with no problems, but for me, when it comes time to buy camper tie downs, I will not even consider something that is not frame mounted.

I spent the money...

I spent the money for frame mounted tie-downs (http://www.torklift.com/p.php?w_page=tie_downs). I would never recommend anything less.

They were easy to install, well designed and well made, and I have confidence that my camper is going to stay where it is supposed to. I could not imagine why anyone would invest the money in a truck and a camper and try to save a buck by going cheap on the mount. I've got tens of thousands of dollars in equipment and gear...I'm not going to risk that to save a few hundred dollars on low quality or poorly designed tie downs (not to mention the potential for injury to myself or others in an accident).

Be smart, shop wisely, and make the right choice. I have to share the road with you, and don't want to become a victim of your money saving ideas...

Strongly recommend Torklift frame tie downs also. I have had them on two trucks.

I've got the Frame Mounted Happijacs on mine. Zero issues. My last Happijac system held the popup down through thirty-three Baja trips. The non-frame mounted Happijac system's out of the question. If I carried a hardwall camper I'd have a dually and use the same system I've got. Neither system can beat duct tape and string though.

I had happy jacks and the rocked to much for my taste. I would go frame mounts if i do it again. I think i have my old happy jack frame mount systems laying around for the amazing price of free if any one is intersted. haven't gotten around to taking it to the scrap yard yet.
