New Camper Tie Downs for the 2003.
Just thought I'd post this for those who carry the slide-in campers. I've got one of the old 10.5 foot campers and had to get new tie downs for the new dodge, since the one's for my old chevy wouldn't fit. Anyway, the new tie downs were made by Hidden Hitch and are of pretty good quality. My only beefs with it are when installing the front tie downs, maneuvering the u-bolts carefully around the brake lines and fuel tank takes a wee bit of patience. The rear ones bolt right to the existing hitch and are really easy. The second beef, is that I have to take the rear set of running boards off as they directly impede the front tie down hook ups.

I have not checked with them yet on the 03s, but TorkLift makes a good stout tiedown system.

You can check out their website:

TorkLift

Here is a URL that shows a pic of the TorkLift design that fits "most" of the running boards! Not sure what most is.

Pics of tiedowns

I have the torklifts on my '00, but will have to buy new tie downs for the '03. I'm going back to Happijac system since the Torklift chains interfere with the fuel fill door. D-C moved the door further forward where it is under the chain.

I have the Happijac system on my `98. Could not be happier with it. NO complaints. It ties into the frame in the front, stays installed and you lose nothing in as far as the use of your bed, unless it dumps. It is not that expensive either. ;D
