rustproofing in Canada eh?

I tried this question on another forum but I didn't get many opinions, I think that is because rustproofing appears to be more common in Canada. I am considering using either Krown or Rust Check, I have always used Rustcheck and have been happy but I have read that Krown is considered the 'best', not sure why. I don't think I want to undercoat the truck.

Are the holes that are drilled in the doors etc to get the rustproofing product inside going to void any warranty? I have read that the new frames on these trucks are not to be drilled or welded on but I am not sure what or where you can drill.

I am trying to keep busy researching while I wait for my truck to make the long train ride from Mexico.

Any opinions are appreciated.

ps I live in Ontario where we have lots of salt on the roads and many temperature changes.

I've never used it or felt I needed it...I am in Sask.
There are folks in Ontario on here...perhaps they can help you out.

I haven't rust proofed a vehicle since the 70 when I had a Ford wagon done and it rotted out anyway. Regular washings including the underbody is what I do now. My brother in law swears by oil guarding though and has his vehicles done every year. Messy though.

Obviously it will be years down the road until I am sure if the rustproofing will work but I was impressed with the Krown Rustproofing pitch and traveled to Ontario to get it done on my truck.

To me it just makes sense to do it this way but once again only time will tell.

I'd go ahead and get it done with Krown.

Go with Krown and forget about Rust Check who have had numerous problems with their product in the past. Year after year Krown has been rated the best by various agencies. To the best of my knowledge there has never been a warranty problem with any manufacturer with the holes that are drilled for the rustproofing.

Re:rustproofing in Canada eh?

Thanks for the replies. I think that rustproofing does help in our climate based on my personal experience. When we bought our 95 1500 ram there was significant rust starting on the driver side door panel and the truck was only 2 years old, we had the panel re-painted and then used rust check every year and were told by a few dealerships when discussing trade this year that the body was in excellent shape, no rust at all. I think part of the problem we have in southern Ontario is not only do we have a lot of salt on the road but there can be big temperature fluctuations so there is condensation on the metal. I had not heard about problems with rust check but I thought I would try and research this topic before deciding what to do.... while I am impatiently waiting for my truck. ;D

I plan on keeping the truck for a few years so will probably check out the Krown 'shop'. I have not heard anything bad or good about the one time rustproofing offered by the dodge dealerships. I think I will stick with the yearly application products this time, there seems to be more experience with this type of rustproofing.
