Break in a new truck?

I have a new HO 4x4 and I have 500 miles on it. Can I safely tow now and put this thing to work now? Do I need to baby it while towing?

Any break in ideas?

Jet~~~

Re:Break in a new truck?

Well it says right in the owners manual to take it easy towing for the first 500 miles, and maybe under 50mph. Not necessarily to break in the engine but more for the drivetrain etc. If I were you I'd check my manual and take it easy for a little while....

Re:Break in a new truck?

You need to break in under towing like the manual says. Not for the engine but the rear ring and pinion.

Re:Break in a new truck?

I broke mine in following the manual. Tens of thousands of miles down the road, I'll probably be happy I did.
