rust spots on my Bright white truck!!!
rust spots on my Bright white truck!!!
Just made an appointment to have the rust spots removed from my truck. I know that the bright white truck are more apt to show "rail dust". I have tried and failed to remove. Dealership says they will attempt to remove the spots on Monday and if that fails they will contact "star" in order to repaint.
My question is , Is rail dust only surface deep? Or will it just come back in a month or two? Has anyone had dodge repaint their truck?
Thanks
Odie

If its TRUELY rail dust its on the surface.Super fine bits of metal from rail car wheels&tracks. Its usually ONLY very top surfaces, thats were it sticks.CLAY BAR and working each little spot by hand and once its gone its gone.Seen the clay bar work were buffers etc.did not.It takes a WHILE to do with clay bar.About all day of steady work one section at a time if its covered front to back.Rail dust usually shows up in a matter of DAYS.Not weeks or months.STAR probably or use not to have ANYTHING to do per se about paint work.Thats the district reps job to inspect and go from there.
i agree with hounddog, go to napa or carquest and get a clay bar. spend all day removing the rail dust, because nobody will treat your truck like you will and it probably will not be done correctly until you do it.
