Rust on my chrome rims

Question Rust on my chrome rims

I am starting to get some rust on the front chrome rims.My truck has about 5,000 miles on it.I live in Michigan,allot of winter salt on the roads.Does anyone make a product to coat the rims againest this I waxed them this fall.Thanks for any Info.coobie

where are they rusting? If there the stock chrome clad rims then the chrome plated plastic cover should not rust. You should have a steel rim with a chrome plated plastic cover over the top of steel rim. Go out and look.

Take it back to the dealer and get them replaced

Still under warranty ?

Easy fix, get some Bon-Ami and a little water it comes right off

It's not rust just some brake dust that has adhered to the chrome (plastic).

Warranty usually won't cover brake dust damage.

NOT brake rotor/pad dust rust. This is on the surface and falls under the environmental area of your warranty. It will come off with a bit of elbow grease.

I have rust on the polished steel wheel covers and chrome caps as well, along with my grille. The dealer is replacing them next week under warranty. They said they have replaced quite a few grilles. We had a normal winter for a change, so the ITD used a lot of liquid Magnesum Cloride (ice melt) on our roads this year. Looks like that goo causes rust to occur pretty fast. We usually don't see much rust around here...
