Remote starter on 07 mega cab

I'm looking to put a high end remote starter in my new auto mega cab, the dealership that I bought the truck says that unless I get a mopar then they won't install one. the service depart says that in the 07 trucks they are "missing some wires" that are needed to install the aftermarket starters. They also said that they have problems with the starters that have an alarm option as well, but in my case I said I didn't order the one with the alarm.Anybody else have this problem with the 07's?? I like the one that I had in my previous truck because of the excellent range and it started every time I wanted it to. The mopar on the other hand will probably not have as good as range as the one I want in my truck.

I'm not a fan of the mopar starter in my 06. I have had nothing but problems with it in the 35,000 kms I have driven my truck. It has been in for warranty once already, and will be going in again shortly. It works when it wants, and sometimes does not work at all, extremly incosistant. The range is NOT very good either, so with that being important to you I wouldn't recommend it.

Mike.

the mopar starter isn't an option because if a guy has to walk right beside it to start it ,defeats the purpose of the remote start.Has anyone else had this problem with the dealer saying that they will only install the mopar? My previous trucks they installed the aftermarket starters.

Will be picking up my truck with a Compustar Pro remote start installed today. I have used Compustar on a past truck with no major problems.

Around here, almost every stereo shop sells and installs them. The one nearest me uses Valet, and they work fine. Tell the dealer to stick his Mopar remote up his... well maybe just tell him you'll be going elsewhere. I think even Circuit City and Wal Mart install them.

CompuStar Pro 2W9000FMR installed in 2007 2500 Mega Cab Diesel

Northern Canuck, I've picked up my 07 2500 Mega Cab Diesel a few weeks ago and had a CompuStar Pro 2W9000FMR installed from a professional Audio and Alarm installer from Ontario. Depending which part of Canada you are located in, you'll need to have the "delay start" set properly such that the Compustar will start after the "Wait to start" light goes out from the dash (ie. temperatures like minus 11 C and parked overnight, you'll need the installer to program the Compustar to delay start the truck for 30 seconds. If not, the Compustar will start the truck however, the truck will shut down and keep doing so). Another thing few items to keep in mind is that the installer will need to bypass both the transponder key (such the vehicle will start) and also the starter (prevent starter grinding when you insert your key to overide the Compustar). To get the "in car or in cab" temperature, the installer had to run a wire from the PCM or "MUX" to the alarm.

Never had a problem with my Python alarm/remote start on the '06. You can't go wrong with any product made by DEI (Viper, Python, Clifford, etc.).

visions just did mine for me, it's an autostart , they also had to put a "chrysler bypass module" in .( not sure what it is but it's on my invoice) i wanted the remote start from factory but the fleet manager guy whom i always buy from told me it's got problematic bugs and he wouldn't sell me it, and he sold me this one instead. it has the grid heater delay, and also has a CWS (cold weather start) funtion. when it hits the lower -20c i can put it in CWS mode and it will start and run for 20mins then shut off , and cycle this way every 8 hours till i set the function off. this set up is also availible for manual trucks too.it's a 2way as well, with a 2500foot range

I have had a Compustar 2-way since Dec. and it works good but has a couple of little glitches. Sometimes the doors don't unlock and you have to use the key fob buttons to open them or else you set off the security. The other thing is sometimes the horn will honk once before it starts. Neither are a real issue to me though.

Do yourself a big favour and stay away from the Mopar r/s. Unless you plan on only starting your truck from less than 100ft (at best), go with something better. I sell/install Astrostart. Have had no problems on any of my Dodge customers. Incidently, the local dealer has contacted me about installing on their new truck sales. They don't want any part their own product.
