Remote start

I have a 06 CTD 6-speed and am looking for a remote start. I was wondering if anyone out there has one and what your thoughts are on it. What model # is it and where did you get it if you remember. I do not really want one with the alarm and everything on it unless it is the best bang for my buck. With the 6-speed am I going to have to buy that dang $400 sensor (the one that you need for high idle)?

Thanks for any and all replies

I installed a code alarm ca-670 on my old 06. I plan on putting one on my current 06 and plan on going with a compustar (6000ft range 2 way paging). If you are planning to install yourself drop me a pm and I can help you or direct you to a place that can help you.

I know a guy that had a remote start on a manual transmission truck... Ended up putting it through a garage and into a creek.

Remote start on a manual is just a bad idea no matter how you look at it. I wont even talk to somebody thinking about doing it..

I'm spending the extra cash and doing a circulating heater myself. No cold startups on the motor, cab is always warm when you get in and don't have to let it idle for extended periods in teh winter.

This is why you have to be smart enough to only install a manual transmission remote starter on a manual transmission truck. (who'a thought)

I strongly recommend the Compustar. I've got 2 with the 5000ft range (one on a manual transmission) and while I doubt the range claims it does have an actual "real time" 2-way remote which is better than the previous 2 way I had. I got mine from Canada (no stupid FCC rules so the range is better) and installed them myself (not recommended if you've never done them before)pm me if you have any questions.
