Question on hvac door
Question on hvac door
I replaced my broken hvac doors last November and everything worked good for about 5-6 months .Then when you would shut the truck off after having the airflow on the floor selected, the vent would be on when you restarted the truck. You can move selector to the vent position and back to floor mode and it will go most times ,but not always and seeing how much a pain in the butt it is to pull the dash I was just hoping to see if anyone had a similar problem or could offer some advice .I think it is the actuator on the vent door is weak/bad (I changed this actuator when I did the doors )and was wondering if I should just try changing that or just plan on pulling the whole heater box and checking the doors.
Never heard of the actuators going bad, but it is always a possibility. Also, you may have some actuator stops that are broken on the HVAC housing that do not cause the actuators to stop at the appropriate times. Of course, you could also have some broken doors. It really is impossible to diagnose without pulling the HVAC housing and doing a full assessment. And while I had it apart, I would also do a full R&R with the steel Heater Treater doors, so you never have to pull the thing apart again. Hope this helps.
