Replace broken a/c blend door, Will I need to pull out the HVAC completely?

Last year I put a new a/c evaporator in my truck and didn't put the blend door in correctly. Its stuck in a blend postion, so I tried to use pliers at the motor to turn it and broke the stem off the door.

We'll now I want to replace the door. Would I have to pull the whole hvac out completely just to install the blend door? I hope I could just crack it open enough to install it. I don't remember the hvac housing configuration.

Blend door

I have a 98 and I have had it off before and I have to take it off again for the blend door being stuck in the A/C position. On the 98 at least I don't see how you can do it without taking the whole thing out. Joe
