03 HVAC door(s) replacement---questions before I do it myself
03 HVAC door(s) replacement---questions before I do it myself
Got an 03 2500 that has blend door or recirc door problems. After using the search function here, I have come to understand it's probably the blend door, which requires draining the antifreeze and AC system and pulling the dash off. (If it was the recirc door, it can be done through the glove box with no draining)
I printed off a long thread over on TDR where a member pulled his dash apart and replaced the doors.....he took pictures and documented the whole thing. That's where I'm gettin some of these questions from.
1. What is involved with evacuating the AC system myself? I know I'll have to take it somewhere to have it recharged, but I would like to evacuate the system myself if possible.
2. On the TDR thread, the member talks about disconnecting the AC lines using a "disconnector tool". What is this and where do I get one?
3. The dealer said after I do all this myself that I need to take my truck to them to have the actuators calibrated with their computer. They couldn't tell me how much they charge for some reason. How much should it cost?
Thanks in advance!

i hope you have lots of room, and lots of time, it's not that easy of a job.
i had the evap replaced by the dealer, as i tried myself, and couldn't get the whole dash out, for some reason. there must be something i missed, but anyway, they fixed it, and broke my blend door, then tried to tell me that it was already broken. they couldn't replace it as it was not there in stock, and would have been 2 weeks, so they wanted me to leave my truck there apart for 2 weeks, not a chance, unless they wanted to drive me to work every day.
anyway, lots of screws and parts.the tool you can get from a auto zone or place like that. you will need to take the truck in somewhere to get the 134a sucked out, when you're all done, you might be luckier then me, as my whole dash rattles like crazy, which is driving me nuts!!!
