Power Windows - All Auto Switches?

Does anyone know if the power window switches in my 2005 Ram can be swapped out with any other Dodge model that has auto up / auto down on all four switches?

It currently does auto down on the drivers window only. You have to hold the button for "up" and you have to hold the button for "up" and "down" for all the other windows (as I recall...)

I have a Lexus GS400 for a car, and it's just sooo convenient on a hot day to click all four switches back and roll down all windows simultaneously without having to hold them. (and vice-versa to put them up.)

It'd be even better to have a single "all open / all closed" button - which I suppose could be fabbed up with a little work...

Anyway, I just wondered if another vehicle shared the same switch panel, but provided the auto switches. Then I could just swap it out.

Don't have an answer for you but agree it would be nice to have auto on all windows.

It's a silly little differentiator that the auto makers are using to give you more features when you buy the more expensive, or "more luxury" car - yet it's about $0.10 worth of switches...

For example, when I bought my car, the Lexus ES300 ($35,000) had a single auto switch and the GS400 ($45,000) had all four.

autoloc

autoloc has a relay to wire in your door except you would need 1 for each window, but all would need to be mounted in drivers door. Each one does auto up and down.

hmm - I couldn't find anything directly related on their site, and I'm not sure how it would work - but I e-mailed Autoloc to ask them about it, to see if they have a solution.

Maybe they can come up with the all up / all down switch...

I'll let you know the result if they reply.

I too wanted to do this...my wifes Audi does all four.

Anyway, I concidered replacing the switch(s) with the auto-stocker, but it is larger than the non-auto's.

The autoloc.com website is very hard to navigate. I THINK this is what you guy's are wanting. I'm trying to call autothisworld.com to see how it would work with all 4 window's. I'll keep you posted on what I find out.

So does this make it where all windows will go down. Or do you have to have one for each window. Then, will that work from the driver's door.

Fyi, i think most auto mfgs don't do the auto up thing because kids, and stupid people put their arms and heads in the window and ouch, or worse.

The ones that do have the auto up, like maybe your lexus, probably has some safety feature in there that stops the window if there is something in it that gives resistance. Put your head, I mean broom stick in there and give it a try.

Yeah, the Lexus does have a pinch-proof feature on windows that will go back if they meet resistance. I assumed all vehicles had that feature now, even if they aren't express up/down.

Hold on, I'll go stick my head in my Ram window and check it out...
