Order to delivery timeframe

I am planning to order a 3500 SRW 4x4 SB auto. I would like to take advantage of the current $2000+48mo 0-apr incentive. To do that, I believe I must take delivery by 3/31.

1) If I order this week, will I likely get it in time?

2) Do I need to actually take possession to qualify for the rebate stuff or is a VIN number sufficient to process?

3) Are there known options that might delay delivery? Specifically, I was wondering about the Nav system.

and an unrelated question . . .

4) What's the general consensus regarding the Laramie package. Worth the cost?

Thanks,
Neil

Two areas I can comment on...

When I ordered my truck, my dealer was able to log onto the network and change a truck they had already ordered and about to be built for dealer stock to my specifications, significantly speeding up the process. I guess you would have to ask the dealer.

As far as the Laramie package goes, for me it made sense. There were a couple of things on the package that I wouldn't have ordered (electric transfer case, power adjust pedals), but if I would have added the things I did want to an SLT (leather, skid plates, tow hooks, remote entry/alarm, sliding rear window, steering wheel stereo controls...), it would have been more than the Laramie package.

$2000, plus 0%, plus 600 ft/lbs... What else could you ask for?

If you can get them down to invoice, I say go for it, Neil!

You've probably done this, but if you haven't, has the dealer searched your area to see if there's a similar truck in your area, or one that's close to what you want and you'd consider?

Get exactly what you want, but if there's one on it's way that's close.....it might help your situation out.

I also just ordered my truck. While my dealer didn't mention, if you have signed a deal (and put a deposit down), then you have already consummated (sp?) the transaction, and are eligible for the offer, even if your truck came in in June. If I am wrong, someone please chime in.

My sales consultant told me about 7-8 weeks, which puts it early-mid March. I don't think you have to worry anyway.

I hope you're right about that, but I doubt it. I seem to recall that "take delivery" is in the wording of these offers (but my recollection is from some time ago). That may have changed. I understood these offers to be primarily intended to create an incentive for people to take automobiles out of dealer stock.

That cuts it pretty close. I'd better get off my butt and get the order placed NOW!

Thanks for the input.

I ordered mine January 10th and when I asked about the zero percent $2000.00 rebate (which I need/want) the dealer said not to worry, Dodge will probably extend it, and anyhow, he says my truck will be in before/if they expire..hope he is right..........

I have the same story as Jeff. I ordered on 12/13/03. The dealer changed the specs on one of the trucks he already had ordered and it is now scheduled to be delivered 1/26/04.

As far as the incentives, you can get the current one when you ordered or whatever is available when the truck is delivered, your choice. It's called "Sold Order Protection". You do have to have a VON or VIN, and a signed order and a deposit. My dealer said that I had to take what was available at time of delivery. I had to have them call DC at 800-227-0757 and get educated. I think that the dealers just want you to purchase a truck off the lot.

Get it ordered and then the misery of waiting will begin.

Wow! That's the best piece of information I've gotten off this board in a long time. Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely insist on this.

Thanks,
Neil

That's what I was saying above. I have a VON, and a signed order with deposit.

If you have that, you're covered.

I'm glad GM didn't have that policy a year ago. If they did, I would be driving a Duramax. There was no guarantee that there would be a rebate upon delivery, so I didn't order. I wonder how many sales they lost because of that policy?
Now I've seen the light and am about to order a CTD!!!

When I ordered my truck I wondered about which rebates would apply. My dealer told me I woulg get only what is available at the time of delivery. I called DC customer service and they stated the exact same answer in addition to dealers are independently owned franchises and set their own sales policies. Perhaps this is where the signed order and deposit comes in to play? Extras such as the $500 holiday bonus is definitely available only at time of delivery. I missed out by a week on that one.

That's kinda how I remembered it from earlier days. But, this "Sold order protection" is something to follow up on. I'm hoping I can hook up with a dealer that already has an order in the queue and can change it to my specs. That would likely ensure delivery before 3/31. And that brings up another question.

The other day (I haven't checked today), the banner on the DC website advertised that the rebate expires 3/1/04. The detail and every other reference I could find on google all said 3/31. I hope their web designers aren't responsible for truck assembly.

My salesman indicated that I was protected on the 2000 + 0%. He also said that if there are any better incentives that are offered later, he'll pass those on to me as well. It's even written on my order sheet.

Kernersville Dodge in NC...I recommend!
