One more time, High Idle 2005 model
Just went and talked to the dealer about this for my 2004. He says (grumpily) "It's funny how you guys find all this stuff on the internet"
Gotta love DTR! The truck is going in in the morning for the TSB!

Just got back from the dealer in Jackson Mi and service writer told me the option wasn't avail for my 2004.5 325/600 truck. On a whim I went back and found the desiel mechanic and asked him if he know about it and he replied that he had done 2 other trucks but wasn't sure of what years could be done. Long story short, he replied "Lets try, bring your truck around and I'll hook up the DBRIII tool". Took him all of 2 minutes using directions I had printed from Geno's garane and I now have the high idle/cuuise control enabled.
Slipped him a few dollars and we both were happy. He wasn't aware of what year trucks this effected so he kept the bulletin and I explained that the 2004's (some ) needed the upgrade flash while later models just needed to be enabled. He mentioned to me that the 2005's even mention it in their owners manual that this option can be done.

Son of A.....
Well, brought the truck in this morning and THEN find out that it is not covered because I have 61500kms and the basic warranty is 3yrs/60000kms.
C'mon, we are going to argue over 1500 kilometers (about 960 miles)???
So now it will cost $96 CDN.
Well, that was one dealer, I'll go check another down the street.
Just fair warning to anyone who is planning on getting this done. It may not be covered if you are out of basic warranty.

Wait until you need to bring the truck in for service and then, while it's in there ask them to do it free of charge. It's takes only a few minutes, it's brain-dead.
If they say no just tell them you won't do business with them any longer.
Besides, $96.00?
The TSB say's it can be billed out at 0.8 hours:
Labor Operation No: Description Amount
08-19-52-93 Reprogram Powertrain Control Module 0.8 Hrs.
That means they charge $120.00 per hour.
Too rich for my blood.
DT.
Well, went to another dealer and they tell me it's covered under the Emissions Warranty 5yr/80K. So, it's going in on Monday.
Funny how one dealer says one thing, and another dealer says something else. Going to the dealer is always a PITA. One of the reasons why I don't take the truck in for scheduled maint....Do it all myself.
....Just ranting....

I had the dealer install the outside temperature/engine temperature-triggered high idle feature on my 98.5. I love it.
Will my truck also accept the driver actuated high idle controlled through the cruise control, or do I need a later mode for this additional feature?

thanks all
I’m headed back to the dealership on Monday, I will keep pushing their buttons until they enable my high idle.
By the way it does say this option is available in the owner’s manual.
Thanks

I took mine to the dealer I bought it from a few weeks ago. They called me later that day and told me it was done. I got in, didn't work. So I looked at the repair order, and it stated that they fixed a broken connector at the back of the fuel rail to fix the excesively high idle I had complained of. Nice, eh?
I left that dealer, and went to the one that is a half mile from my house, and they did it in less time than it took me to go to the parts counter and order my cup holder light, and under hood light. No charge. I think they will be getting my business from now on. It's closer too.
