MY STUPITY!

Nobody to blame but myself. This weekend I was using my g/n to move some furniture next door (I BOUGHT A HOUSE..... next door) and unhooked, pulled away until "BANG" ..........and my head lunged forward.
HOW STUPID COULD I BE?

I knew what it was as soon as it happened, but too late.

I bowed the tailgate and twisted the latches. I've straightened it out pretty good but far from perfect.

That's on a stupidity scale of 9.8

Talk about a BRAIN DEAD moment.

BEEN There Rammer64. We got back from a long rotten weekend of camping, SWMBO was in a snippy mood, and I was tied. I made the newbie mistake of not dropping the tail gate. Not TOO bad a dent, but I found out that Line-X won't stand up to a 5th wheel tongue.

Ive got a couple on my new truck. The first one made me sick and so mad at myself everyone just kept clear for a while and the next I just said oh well now they mach, Whata ya do? The first on I was in a hury and forgot to latch the ball on the hitch but remembered the safety chain and then proceded to drive the lawn mower up onto the back of the trailer when all of a sudden I was dropping. I thought one of the ramps had fallen off. When I realized the hole trailer had tillted up I looked forward just in time to see the toung hitt the tail gate smack dab in the center. The next time was less than a week latter. I was trying to load my wifes Grizzly in the back of the truck with the snow plow on so I could go grade some dirt. I forgot that the plow mount hung way down low under the machine and bamb I hit the top of the tail gate and put a huge crease in it. My wife just said now its mine and it adds caracter. I said bull poopy or something like that.

I got home one day and went to the mailbox and when returning I looked @ my tailgate and saw this dent. I was like what the ****! Where did that come from. So the next day @ work I pulled the video and ran it. Sure as heck, it was a lawn worker with the backpack motor slamming against the truck. You could see him looking around when he hit it and just walked away. That day, my wife was pulling in and saw that I had the tail off working the dent out. She got out and I explained to her what happened. Her remarks "Are we going to the dealer after dinner to get a new one?" I got most of it out and I only know where it's at. Just pisses me off especially since I didn't put it there. But, I will eventually put one ding in there.

I was backing up my truck to my fifth wheel to test the wiring plug before a fishing trip a couple of weeks ago. It was at night and I could've sworn that the fiver was jacked up high enough for me to get under it. WRONG!!!!! When I finally realized that it wasn't, I thought I stopped in time. WRONG!!!!! I just tapped the kingpin about 2.5" down from the top edge of the tailgate and about 1.5" below the Line-X. It made a noticeable ding and scratched the paint a little. I was sick. It made it worse that during this whole nightmarish process, my wife was sitting next to me asking if I'd like her to lower the tailgate. "No", I said, "I have plenty of room . . . ." Egads.

Anyway, I bought a Bushwacker tailgate protector ($29) and it covers 99% of damage. There's just a little indentation at the edge of the protector that only I can see (as a reminder of my stupidity). I plan to find a 5th wheel tailgate and put this baby into protective custody in my garage.

The installer dropped the corner of the windshield on the hood of my Gen II resulting in a fifty cent piece size dent. It was directly above one of the hood braces. I had Dent Wizard remove it. It cost me a whopping forty bucks. They did a great job and should easily be able to take care of the dent in your tailgate.

Well guys I got it fixed!!!! The dent wizard did a great job! And I only had to wait about 20 minutes! He even fit me in his busy schedule even though I only gave him 10 min. notice. Cost me $60 but man was it worth it. The repair is virtually perfect and no one can tell where the dent was. I can just barely tell! I am very happy with it and recommend the dent wizard services to others. At least the dent wizard I went too! I am a firm believer that if I left the dent in the gate then others would soon follow. Kinda like having a couple of rabbits around the house! They multiply quick!

Thanks for everyone's advice and help! And remind me to put a topper on my truck and not a G/N hitch!

King you can adjust it. Loosen the bolts at the hinges and move it where you want it tighten it down.

Papaperk,
I feel your pain I now have three dents that I did,and a circular impression from kids throwing eggs during some dance and partying. Guess carma does exist!!
Yes it is a truck with character but still I wanted to keep it looking new as long as possible.
My wife got the dents on her car with the paintless system and you would not ever notice nomatter how close you get. about $75 for four good sized dents.
