Dented my rear bumper...

Slid into a darn tree tonight, and but a nice dent in my bumper. Anyone have a replacement, or know where I could get a good deal on one? I don't think it's in a spot that's easily pounded out - it's just to the right of the centerline on the 'thin' part of the bumper.

I think I'm gonna cry.

That sucks!

The stocker new will set you back $5-600.

Check with you local wrecking yard.

LKQ is nationwide and had almost new takoffs for $250. The step pad may be a different color though.

I found some on eBay for $275... Supposedly OEM replacements. Sigh - I DON'T want to have this conversation with the Wife...

Don't feel to bad buddy, last month I was headed down my iced over driveway( a long hill) and I hit the brakes to hard, ABS must of kicked in cause the back end started sliding to my left. I knicked my rear bumper on a pine tree at the bottom of the hill. Put a small scrape on it, which buffed out but it also left a little dent. I didn't even try pounding it out. It gives my truck character.

I seen somewhere( don't remember where) but it's a dent remover. It's like a suction cup deal that you tighten over the dent then yank it off. I don't know if it works or where you can get them but it's just a suggestion.

If you want to hear a dent story that will make you cry just ask me.

I got a oops that wasn't supposed to happen.

I decided I was going to take the rack off the top of my truck by myself. Well it started with the spare tire. I decided I was going to roll it off the side of the shell instead of the back like I always do Anyways, it rolled down the side and hit the flared part of the bed putting a nice dent in it, more like a crease. That was right before a show that I was doing as well. Man, I wish I knew what I was thinking when I did it.... That will make you cry for sure...

Does anyone have any experience with trying to pound out dents in these bumpers? Any luck?

Aftermarket bumpers.

Research aftermarket ones and be done with it. I dented the one on my '99@ 1/2 mph and fully expect to do or be done by somebody else again on my '07.

Yeah - I'll probably end up with an aftermarket one - like I said before I found 'em on eBay for $275.

BUT

I borrowed a couple of hammers and dollies from a neighbor and was actually able to get 'some' of the dent out by just pounding on it - still attached to the truck. So, since I need to remove the bumper to replace it anyway, I figure I'll remove the bumper and pound on it some more where I can get some better leverage. If it turns out decent, fine. And if not, I'll replace it.

I've spent all day apologizing to the truck for doing what I did - I hope it forgives me :-)

Remember, it is a WHOLE lot easier to put them in than take them out!

Ain't that the truth!!!! There is a pine tree in NY and a mail box in Texas that will attest to that fact!

Aftermarket bumpers.

There's a guy in my area that does some nice work in aluminum. I'm hoping he can crank one out for $6-700 bucks. I want it to extend further out and back and especially to take a mild hit without denting.

Beh... my rear bumper has several dents due to backing into the lunion ring of my trailer, and also the parking deck at work. It's a bumper.

I dented the one on my '00 pretty bad and got a replacement from a company called Keystone. Lifetime warranty and it ran me $260 (I got a little discount because I work for an insurance company, IIRC). Looked great right thru when I traded it in on my '05. Their number is 800-322-2415.
