New truck finally scheduled!
Hey guys. My new truck which was ordered Oct 24 is finally scheduled to be built on the 24th of January. The dealer expects to deliver it 3-4 weeks from then. At least there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
The VIN is 3D7MU48C04G185640
The VIN is 3D7MU48C04G185640
Something doesn't add up.
I ordered my truck in mid-December and it was built on Jan 9th. My order date was about 2 months after you and my build date is/was about 2 weeks before you.
Also, my VIN number is over 4000 trucks AFTER you.
You better put some pressure on your dealer. Your truck was built "4000 trucks ago" so it's out there in the system somewhere.
Better check that odometer when it shows up!!!!!

I placed my order on 12.31.2003 and was told just a few minutes ago that the truck is status F. According to the list I have that means it is in the process of being painted.
I am not sure what it means but the last six digits of the VIN are 196053. Seems like your truck should be close to sitting in your driveway.
Anyone know how reliable these reports are?

The last 6 digits is the build sequence of that truck type.
Jarmar, there were 196,052 trucks built before yours for that model year/body style.
Our sequence build numbers include Ram 1500s, 2500s, 3500s, and 4000 DXs (whatever those are?).

Thanks handy-man-tim for the numbers lesson.
I find it puzzling that CRXsi would order two months earlier than I did and have his truck scheduled to be built four days after mine.
I am still wondering if there is anyone out there who has information on how reliable these reports are from DC. If I get a report of status F, painting, how accurate is that?

I don't understand the delay. I ordered my truck on Dec. 23 and it was built yesterday scheduled for delivery today. I don't know how long it will take to reach Arkansas. Being that my order seems to have went through a lot faster I hope I am not getting the run around on the actual dates. Anyway I hope you get it soon it must be killing you to have to wait so long.

Oh yeah, my VIN # is 194032 so I agree, your truck was most likely built long ago and is sitting somewhere and they can't find it. I think they are stalling for time hoping you will reorder.

All I know is that it went to D1 status as of Jan13, 04. I am friends with the Fleet manager at the dealer I ordered (fellow racing buddy) so I don't believe I am being jacked around. I did special order? Don't know if this makes any difference. The only other thing that may be is the fact I live in Canada. I am not positive but I am wondering if the VIN isn't really by build order or just by a sequence of ordering. Just because a VIN is assed first does it mean that the vehicle is built first? Or does it just mean that it has been scheduled to be built...without a firm date of schedlue...hence it going to D1 status recently. I do know that certain dealers, depending on their status, get priority on vehicles. Maybe a vehicle with a later VIN but from a higher ranking dealer would get built first? And usually the dealers in the states have a higher status than those up here in Canada. Again I trust the man I bought the truck from and he gave me invoice without even having to dicker (which is next to impossible where I live! I went to another dealer just to check the price I am paying and was semi-politely told where to go and how to get there!). I work at an import dealership and you wouldn't believe the politics involved between the dealers and the actual parent company. Likewise I have had a VIN for almost a month with the truck only being in D status, and again it just went to D1 Status.(oh and I have the papers to back up that is just went to D1 status, It's not like I was just told this.)
My dealer told me that they randomly pick cars/trucks for emissions testing. That can add weeks to the wait. He also said they when a car didn't come on the scheduled shipment, they found it had been crash tested. Of course, DC doesn't have the courtesy to inform the dealer and the customer.
