I am gonna have a friend over to help manage the tank-but it'll have to be empty (mostly) first.

I dont want to get this 300lb tank to start sloshing around & rip out any connections to the truck ( or fall on my head )

Thanks again for the responces.

don't know if you done yours yet, but here some stuff I find out.
1. pressure wash the top of the tank before you start especailly near fuel line and wire connector. any dirt in connectors make them hard to get off.
2. dropping the tank more than 3" without disconnecting fuel and wire harness makes it more diffcult.
3. heat shield is sharp! ouch!
4. be prepare for fuel to shift back and forth in tank (balancing act)
5. disconnect intake and vent hose first
6 I removed drive shaft 5 mins made for room to work with. found bad u-joint too
7. straps on frame side are notched push up then out (actually easily)
8. was way easier putting it back than taking it out.
9. you need a 15mm extra deep socket for bolts. deep impact socket worked better than regular deep socket.
wear safty glasses.

the rest was easy

Thanks for the pointers. It turned out that I did install it on sunday. It went great!. It would'a been nice to have your pointers before tring but it turned out to be fine.

We thought we may be able to access the top of the tank via the rear wheel well, but my friggin rim was seized to the hub-gotta get the dealer to put some coppercote on there for me.

I have a flexable buddy who managed to squeeze between the driveshaft & exhaust & still access the top.....his girlfriend must love him!

I am working on posting my pics of the install....& hopefully I don't get slammed over doing something wrong.

Oh & yea, the heat shield is sharp!!! found that out the hard way.
EDIT: Heres a link to my little install.

This seems like the way to go, I agree totally. It should save you tons of time and aggrivation.
