Navigation System

Is there some way to up-date the Navigation CD's? Mine is a 04 and it doesn't have a lot of the new streets. Do I need to buy new CD's or can I download the information and burn my own CD's?

I think you have to buy the newest CD. MrCD1 on E-Bay sells them much cheaper then DC......

I think Dodgezilla is right. I don't have a factory nav in the Dodge but GM upgrades the nav cd's about once a year. I get 1 or 2 free upgrades (new cd's) during the basic warranty period with my Corvette.

I should have said, it is a stock 2004 Dodge Navigation System. I have the stock CD's that come with it, just looking for a inexpensive place to update the CD's and Chrysler wants $200 plus and that isn't cheep.

Exclamation Nav Discs

RB1 or RB4 stereo? They both have discs available, however they don't upgrade these enough or like I thought they should. I broke down and bought one of the upgraded discs only to find that alot of roads(including the one I have lived on for 11 years) were not on there. So many highways are under construction here or bypasses are being made and they just aren't putting them on the discs. If it is an RB1 make sure the new disc is #5064033AE. This is the most up to date so far. The #AF will be released soon though. Probably November I would guess. They are still in the $200 range though.

Just go to E-Bay Al. Search for RB1 or RB4, whichever one you have, and I'm sure he has the CD for at least half of what Dodge wants. He will tell you if it's the latest version..... I'm referring to MrCD1 that is.....

It does kind of stick that Dodge charges so much for these NAV systems and then you have to spend all that money every couple of years to get the latest upgrade......

It's not just Dodge. Most of the other manufacturers do the same. Even with the portable units you need to pay to keep updated. A new CD comes out for my iWay 500c every year or so. I just buy a new CD for $79 every two years. I believe with most NAV systems the mapping software is licensed to the hardware manufacturer.

Thanks, I went on e-bay and sent MrCD1 a e-mail.

Also, I agree with you, it is stick that Dodge charges that kind of money when a friend of mine just got a portable unit for under 200 and it's updated where mine is 2003, gives better maps, records music, and has a screen twice the size of mine. I should just buy that one and I can let my wife and children use it when needed.

Also, will it say on my unit if it's a RB1 or RB4???
