Michelin Warranty Side wall cracking
Michelin Warranty Side wall cracking
Has anyone had the same problems with the side walls cracking? I noticed mine after I bought it 8 months ago. Last week I took a 2000 mile trip from Fl to NC, after 500 mile the fronts lost 20-30 lbs every fill up. So I put the spare on and the same problem!
I had a set warrantied last spring because of sidewall cracking. If I remember they had 1/2 tread left and I was reimbursed for the remainder of the tires. I don't remember the actual price but around 100 dollars a tire is what I paid for the replacements. They also had steel showing through the tread in some places. I believe they had 50k on them.
I have the same issue - 2006 2500 with Michelins. Dealer said Michelin warrants the tires - not the dealership. Looks like I need to take a trip to the local tire shop and find some replacements.
So far so good! call 800 370-2828, the number that came in your warranty package. I talked to Michelin today, they sent me to a local sears tire dealer who does tire warranty inspections, they inspected my tires called Michelin. Michelin said they would give me 3 new tires and charge me 25% for the two others(the rear tires had less tread on them Burn Outs
) so 5 new tires for about $200.00. My tires had 10000 miles on them.

I had the same problems with the Michelins on my 2004.5. Michelin said they will Pro -Rate them. When I took it to a tire dealer. They still wanted to charge me 550.00 to get new tires. And the tires were not even half gone. So when I got back in touch with Michelin. They said they could not help me any more from there. They seem like a decent tire for towing my Fifth wheel. I think because of the E rating. But they did not do well for traction of any kind. I ended up getting a house brand All-Terrain tire from my local Alton's and have had not problem so far. Michelin kinda left a bad taste in my mouth and will probably not buy another set from them again.
I had the same problem on my 06. I actually bypassed the dealer and talked to Michelin. They were great, told me to take it to a tire center and have them replaced. When I got there told them I wanted a different tire and they said I could pick BF Goodrich and one other one I forget now. Had them put on some E rated All Terrains, they even replaced the spare for me!
Well, sears and michelin said I could pick either brand, and any size. So Im going to a 285 70 17 bfg all terrain D rated. My question is on the D rating, do I need the E? Sears said the D will last longer? any ideas? Thanks
I just noticed lots of fine cracking around the rim area on all mine while washing it this weekend. I don't need that kind of worry hauling a heavy trailer. Sears is across the street, they are going to get a look at them. 10,000 miles on them.
I noticed the cracking last week. I have a month old 06 Qc 4x4. I called Michelin today, after reading this thread. They were helpful at the company, but I took the truck into one of the stores they suggested and I think I got the blow off. One guy said no big deal and the other was supposed to call michelin and call me back. I didn't hear from him yet. I guess we'll see.
