YEh I got blown off too...the "tire engineer" at the tire shop said that is normal cracking from sidwall flex....and all e rated tires do it...well we looked at all the e rated tires in the parking lot and NONE had cracking, I also ask "if it is normal cracking from sidewall flex then why aren't the whole sidewalls covered in cracks???" no awnser just stupid looks..."sooo why does my spare that have never been used have the same cracks, it is new and has not been used...." same stupid look...same stupid awnser "it's normal!!!". Ohh yeah and he told me I probably have nails in my tires...thats why they are leaking air.
Well I guess he was right.... it is normal for THESE tires on THESE TRUCKS!!!! My question should have been ARE THEY SAFE??? Going to another tire shop today to see what they say, if not I will be sending a letter complete with pics comparing other tires, along with the names of the tire inspectors who deemed these tires safe!!!

c.
I called Michelin and they directed me to a dealer. Drove to the dealer and no questions asked and they even replaced the spare which has zero miles on it. The spare was a free exchange

Wish I was that lucky haven't had any luck. I have got two turndowns just like redeyeracer did. They keep saying they are normal cracks for their age. Kind of give up on it.

My tires were only a couple months old, I can see were they would turn down a couple years though.

It's important to call Michelin at 1-800-847-3435 first and have them open a file on you. I asked the rep if I could go to 4WheelParts in town and they said yes after they confirmed they were a dealer. I have 7500 miles on my truck and the kid behind the counter spent 30 minutes getting the run-around, measuring tread depth and in the end I was credited for 5 new tires. I got $202 per tire times 5 and am waiting for my Mojave Teflon rims to have the BFG 285's installed. Should be in today. If the tire store rep is on your side there shouldn't be any problem. They also said I could get any tire or size I wanted. I gave the kid behind the counter a nice tip for working so hard.
