max hp

does anyone know the max hp a stock 2006 2500 could hold??

That is a complicated question. It depends on the supporting modifications done to it. Another thing to consider is the transmission (if it is an automatic) or the clutch (if it is a manual).

The bottom end of the Cummins engine can handle in the 800-1000 hp range without any modifications. But trying to do it without burning it up or maxing out head pressures or ripping out your transmission is another story.

Hey speeder I have no doubt that big hp would be fun and maybe I'm paranoid but I see an awful lot of threads like these that give me pause to think.

Maybe you trade often or something and it won't matter so much. I intend to keep my truck forever and hope it will last a very long time with regular pm. Just something to think about.
