truck just died

I was driving through a local school zone. Just as i was about to take a turn the truck just died. It simply shut off. I stopped put it in park and tried to start it. I then heard a spashing sound and could smell fuel. Opened my door and got out to see fuel dripping all over the place. There is diesel everywhere. From the valve cover to the tailgate. The majority of the leak seams to be somewhere around the area of the fuel filter. The filter was changed approx 4000 kms ago. I checked the drain valve and it was close. It didnt seam to be the filter cap or or ring. Has anyone had a fuel line go? I have not modded the fuel system at all yet. Anyone got any guesses? Its already at the dealer so I should know more tomorrow. I hope the new service manager is ok. Anyone got any guess as to how all of a sudden there can be a fairly major fuel leak? I would have thought a fuel leak would have caused some stumbling and then caused the truck to die but not in this case. It actualy shut off smoother that when kill it with the key.Would a fuel leak between the tank and CP3 do any damage to the CP3?

I wonder if the filter lid was torqued down a bit too much causing the filter housing to crack, leak, then finally let loose. When it let loose, no pressure or fuel for the CP3. Damage to the CP3 would be dependant on how long it was starved before it quit.

On the other hand, did you happen to check your oil level?

No I didnt check the oil. I actualy changed it 2 days ago. I have already had a couple injectors go. This leak is all diesel and its spraying upward in the engine bay with just they key on and the truck wont start. Nothing at all like when my injectors went south. As far as the filter cap. it looked fine from what i could see on the side of the road.

truck has 73 000 kms and has had the Quad box since about 25 000 Kms. Injectors were honed long before I had them go bad. I had them replaced and had the tips swapped to the new bodies. Mine didnt crack they were leaking up towards the top from somewhere the tips were fine. They were fixed about 5 months ago and have been trouble free since.

They were honed at DDP to flow more fuel. Do a search and youll find lots of reading. They tips are the ones that came in the truck. I think 3 of the injector bodies have been replaced but the tips are all original still.
