Instead of putting on overload springs, I would honestly look at a set of airbags instead. Very easy install, and about $250 cost wise. You may find the overloads cheaper, but the airbags really help me when pulling a heavy trailer. Helps tilt the headlights back down to Earth (from pointing up into the heavens). Overloads won't prevent that, and don't really become a player until the back end is already squatting. Just my .02

I too am thinking about the factory overloads for my 06 Mega 2500. I do not want the hassle of have to 'ever' put air in them.
The simplicity of getting the same capacities of the 3500 for peace of mind is where it's at for me.
Has anyone done this?
Please speak up if you have something other than an airbag advice.
Linehand, I hope you don't mind me jumping in...

You cannot put on factory overloads unless you have the 3500 perch on your frame.
You can get overload springs like the Hellwig's or get Timbren's that replace your bumpstops. I have Timbren springs and they do the job so far - http://timbren.com/

Timbrens work great...put them on the front to help when I'm carrying the plow. I just bought a set for the rear from truckspring.com...less than $180, delivered...at the house in 2 days time.

Timbrens seem like a good alternative but I have read that they are rather abrupt. If partially loaded the ride can be jarring and over speed bumps etc. I was thinking that factory overloads would give a more gradual application and ride smoother in those specific times....

The standard Timbrens are 6000# (3K each side) and I've heard they can be a little stout when there is not a big load on them. Because of the feedback on here I went with the 3600# as listed in my sig and they seem to be doing the job for me. They are the same price as the 6K's.

For $170 I think I am going to give the Timbrens a shot, not too much to try them out and at least get something better than my existing soft factory spring pack.
