Lamp Out

Anyone ever have the Lamp Out problem? My is flickering on/off along with the warning chirp (which gets real old on a long trip)

I checked all the lights including plate lights and everything seems to be OK

I tried pulling fuses for all tail lamps, trailer lamps and fog lamps and same problem. It doesn't matter if the lights are on or off.

Any ideas?

I guess next step is to take all light units apart and check the connections.

Thanks

Mine has been on for over a month now. It has stopped chirping while driving just when first started. I have checked and rechecked all lights. They all work properly. There are posts that say a small circuit board that manages the rear lights and is somewhere close or on the taillight assembly is a major cause of this. Or the recommendation is to replace all the bulbs. I will replace something when it quits working. I have learned to ignore the Lamp Out Light most of the time. There are a number of posts relating to this problem, do a search.

Common problem. Change the bulbs in your rear lamp assemblies and the problem will go away.

Either replace the rear bulbs (and for some reason, seems to be the left stop lamp bulb more often than the right), or just do what I did, learn to ignore the little ding and the lamp out light and within a couple of weeks or so, the lamp out light will finally stay on continuously and that is when the faulty bulb will finally be completely burned out.

I agree with Hoss. In my case it was the right rear dual stage brake bulb. It looked fine but it was shot.

The lens assembly didn't come out easily. When reassembled, two weeks later the ears broke - - $125.

Mine was the left rear brake light as well. I didn't have any trouble getting the assembly out though...or getting it back in for that matter.

My lamp out came on yesterday after I backed into a steel pole. Tore the whole rear light out of the truck, smashed the side of the bed, and dented the bumper. Now the lamp out light is on, and my blinker ticks at super speed. Anyone got $500.00 I can borrow for my deductable?

My truck started doing this a couple of days ago, really annoying.

Is the "lamp out" light only for the lights on the outside of the truck or does it also do the lights on the instrument panel as well?

Unfortunatly my truck never came with a owners manual so I am sort of in the dark here.

Thanks

One of your lamps is going bad, high current draw, thus the Lamp out is doing it's job. Try turning on you 4 way flashers and see if there is a lamp out. Do you nitice a difference in the way the turn signals are flashing, in other words does one side flash faster than the other? If this is true then the one that flashes faster is going bad. Try unpluging the rear tail lamps and then check the lamp out indicator.
