I'm going to try Dielectric tonight, but I'd rather not hear it all day (off and on)...
Dealer states to replace entire rear light assembly. 30.00 apiece

Check your brake lights seems to be the drivers side goes first. Replace both as the second one to go is....., 3rd is 3rd brake light on the cab.

I will try this next. I am positive all the bulbs are fine, and they all light up. As far as I can tell, all the assemblies seem ok but for $60, I'll swap the assemblies and see what happens.

I too had the license plate light go out and drove me crazy trying to figure out wth was going on. Drove like that for almost 2 weeks.

Interesting I see this - I have an 03' 3500 DRW that started doing this right after I bought it (about 2 months ago)...the light was never consistent, always flickered, and the chime drove me crazy. I found that I had one license plate light out...replaced it, didn't totally fix it, but seemed to make it better...then didn't do it for about a month. Today it started all over again, but all lights are good, although I haven't checked the connections yet...sounds like this is a known issue with the tail-light harnesses...correct?

FYI - I tried to unplug the chime today, and it appears to be built into the ignition switch...so that is a no-go.

it is the cheap bulb connections. The bulb bar assy has weak springs in them to hold the bulbs in place,
The truck goes through a self diagnostic check when you first turn the key on and any time it senses on open in the electricle system of the lights.
So the intermittent signal is from the bulbs connecting then disconecting.
Which side or what bulb it is will be trial and error.
I got lucky and had arching on the left side turn lamp socket and bulb. So my fix was easy, a new tail light assy.

Go through carefully and look at all your bulbs and their sockets.

Still No resolve. Hadn't happened in a month. Did it for 85 miles on my way to work this morning. I want to cry.

All the bulbs are new. I see no signs of arc-ing. The Lic. plate lights are good.

Uhg.
