Installing 2006+ factory radio in 2004 Ram?

Hi all. I have a question that I hope some of you can answer. I have a 2004 Ram and I would like to replace my current radio with a factory radio from a 2006+ truck if it is possible and isn't terribly expensive.

What would I have to do for this to be possible? I have found a replacement bezel for my truck, so a little trimming to it is not a big deal. What would I have to do to get the Sirius radio working in my truck? Would there be any modifications needed to have the radio fit behind the dash? What about the mounting screws, are they in the same places? How about the wiring? Would I need to get a new harness?

Thanks in advance.

The wiring is all different and I don't think you can get a harness to adapt it to your truck. You may just want to get an external Sirius unit to connect to your factory stereo....

Yeah, I was hoping that was not going to be the case. I don't just want it for the Sirius though. I really like the fact that it has a 6 disk in dash MP3 cd changer. That's the main draw and the Sirius is icing. I have an aftermarket stereo right now, but my truck looks like frankenstein right now. I have a wire coming out from under the dash to hook in my iPod, my XM addon radio with its wires going all over the place, along with my radar detector cable. I'm just sick of all the clutter and it would be much nicer if I could just have 6 MP3 cds in the changer and the Sirius built in (or at least hidden). Just seems to make more sense to me.

Thanks for the advice. If anyone knows of an adapter harness, please let me know. Also if anyone has any suggestions on an aftermarket radio that could do what I want at a reasonable price, I'm up for those suggestions as well.

Why not go with the factory 6 disc CD changer and the factory sirius kit?

Can that 6 disk changer play MP3 CDs? I would like to be able to do that so I can avoid having to use my iPod as much as possible. It's a little dangerous to be fumbling with that thing while driving.

If you aren't set on Sirus, go with the XM direct kit for the dodge. I purchased the the 6-disc (RBQ) that was offered in the '02-'05 off ebay for $150. Then you need to buy the below kit called XM-direct. All mounts behind the dash, gives you 6-disc and sat radio. Sorry, no MP3.

You can go to www.wjjeeps.com/sirius/sirius_diag.jpg it shows you a diagram and part numbers for the parts needed to add sirius and a factory 6 cd changer. I do not know if it plays mp3 cd's.

Careful, not all 6disc will play mp3's. My RBQ won't.
