Since it's sort of on topic, does anyone know what you can legally carry on these trucks? I'm trying to find out what i'm legally allowed to haul with my 04 3500 and found about 10 different answers. Don't want to get caught overweight.
There is a door sticker that tells you your GVW
My dually is #12k and my 2500s are #8800 and my buddies SRW 3500 is #9200

Depends. If he's taking Two Ton Tina on a date, or her sister Henryetta Heavylunch, it will be well over 9000 pounds. Even more if it's a double date.

I didn't see anyone answer your question about GVWR. Basically,the GVWR is the max that Dodge says your truck can weigh.

My 3500 SRW has a GVWR of 10,100lbs. My truck actually weighs 7200 empty. That means I can add 2900lbs of cargo before I'm overloading the truck per Dodge.

Ok here's my question, if the axles are 6k and 5k can't per DOT is concerned haul 11k? I really don't care what Dodge says, i'm just worried about DOT pulling me to the scales. Because I was 10k already, and I plan to have 3 more people in the cab, a bunch of gear, and the pin weight of a 2k trailer, which will be another 1,000lbs. I know the truck will handle it like nothing, but don't need to have problems with DOT.

10,000 is nothing, I know all of the stuff in my box is 1,800lbs very max. Sure isn't a lot of weight for a 1 ton

see i don't understand that does the hemi use the same axles under the hemi 2500? or are all the 2500's the same suspension wether its a hemi or not? if they are the same then why the 200 pound differance?

Do you mean 2Klbs difference in towing capacity?

Curb weight=no payload
GVRW= with payload

btw, you won the bet!

I think he is talking about the GVWR.. The only thing I could guess is hemi trucks use a little smaller rear end then the CTD's do... I don't know if the axle strenght is the same or not, but the ring and pinion are smaller...

hemi 2500's have 10.5" rear axles. CTD 2500's have 11.5" rear axles.

Correct. DOT is primarily concerned with axle ratings and tire ratings.
