Help with Clutch

I have a 2006 BigHorn Diesel Manuel transmission. I just recently put on the Edge chip and now all the sudden I'm having so clutch issues.

Yesterday I was in tow mode - pulling three 4 wheelers about 55mph in 6th gear I came to hill and pushed on the gas a little harder and my clutch started slipping. The rpm's went from about 1500 to 2200 and no acceleration. I left off the gas and then did again and was fine.

I had this problem three times yesterday. I put the chip in stock mode and can't duplicate the problem.
I took it into the dealer and they can't duplicate the problem and ofcourse they won't do anything if it's not in stock mode...

Any ideas? Suggestions. The dealer said the clutch is fine.

To much power? Sounds like the clutch is begining to go south on you. If you baby it, especially in the higher gears (5th and 6th) it may last quite a while. I would say put in a performance clutch set-up. I have had mixed results with the ceramic/metallic discs. Some applications will chatter others won't but it ain't going to slip.

I had the same problem with my stock 2007 at 12000 miles. I noticed it in big hills passing traffic. The clutch would slip about 300 rpm's. My dealer said that it probably would not be covered by warranty as a clutch is a wear item. I went to another dealer which I knew had a real good mechanic and he said "you got a bad pressure plate". They tore it down and the clutch was like new. They put in a new clutch, pressure plate and bearing. Also had the flywheel machined. All under warranty. Works perfect now, but I will be on the look-out for a recurrance.

Scottertrash on those soutbend clutches - are they hard to push in? What did you pay (if you don't mind)

Wayupnorth - where are you located? the dealer changed the fluid and there wasn't anymore medal shavings than normal. They said they wouldn't take it a part to look at it unless they could duplicate the problem. They can't duplicate the problem in the "stock" mode.

I'm located in Goose Bay Labrador, but there are no dealers closer than 750 miles away. So I bought the truck in Ottawa, Ontario where my daughter lives. The Dealer who did the repair is in Ottawa also. Reason I didn't buy from them is that their sales people are like dogs after a piece of meat. Hated to do it cause they had looked after my 96 for years. Great service, lousy sales force.
