hellwig swaybar fittment w/oversized spare.

Are any of you 3rd gen guys running Hellwig part# 7658(our application#) also packing an oversized spare back there? The instructions show a stock spare and good clearance. I've got a 285-75-17(34") spare and am curious if the vertical rods will clear. Thanks in advance.

I have the same tire, & a Helwig bar on my truck. It's close, but it will fit.

Thanks. I'm running a 285-75-17 which is 1.3" taller than your signature tire. Tighter yet?

I have a 35X12.50 on the stock "spare" rim under the truck with the Hellwig sway bar. it does rest against the sway bar end links, but it does fit.

I'm going to have to figure something else out. I wish Hellwig would have bowed out the links more or something to enable a larger spare to be placed/removed easily. Thanks for the responses.

Hellwig swaybar,yeah!

Got the Hellwig 1 1/8" swaybar installed and what an improvement in handling! Much better handling with decreased lean and control. With Thuren's coils and his custom valved Kings this handles super! I hardly know the camper is on there(except at the pump)

My spare fit easily and a 35" will fit also pulled to the hitch. Bar came powdercoated with a hammertone finish.

Thanks for the replies!

I installed the same Hellwig sway bar on my 2004.5 one ton, 2wd. I had to use care putting the spare in place, but it fits - barely. I too have 285/75/17 tires - Nitto Dura Grappler.

Yeah with the 285-75-17's,I noticed that under full compression the tire could hit the Mag-Hytec cover. Solution was to pull the tire rearward toward the hitch while my wife re-tightened it. I then use a 3" ratchet strap with the hooks inserted into the two holes on the inside of the frame rails to secure the spare further. My winch died on the last truck and I don't trust them.

My buddy's ordered the Big Wig 1 5/8" bar for his '05 w/9.5' hardsided camper.
