headlight advice

When I bought this truck it had Beamer HID headlights in it but I have had nothing but trouble with them. Burned out ballasts and always going out when needed the most( like at night on the highway). Have checked the wiring and cleaned all connections but still did it so I finally changed to a set of Sylvania Silverstar Ultra but don't like the light output. They aren't bad on high beam but really dim on low beam so I was thinking of trying a set of Piaa Extreme White bulbs. What do you think?

Instead of the PIAA extreme, get a pair of the Phillips XtremePower bulb…they are an excellent redesigned bulb that keeps the filament in the oem location.
Since running them on my 2005 truck, I have started using them on all my vehicles..they offer a definite, visible and usable lighting upgrade on our trucks. They also have a decently long life (unlike some other brands), are yellow/whitish instead of blue white and came recommended buy Daniel Stern, who is a vehicle lighting guru. They are available at amazon, though I like to buy from these guys…

If you do have some time on your hands and want to learn ALOT of good info on vehicle forward lighting, check out Sterns site--

Thanks for the reply. I have checked out some of the link you sent and will do more when I have time. I will definitely look into the Philips but don't know if they are available in Canada other than online. Will check with a few of the local auto parts stores and see.

Upon further inspection of my headlights I see the reflector backing has started being burnt off by the HID's so now I need new headlights. Is there a good place to get quality replacements?

ALso check forum classifieds AND Craigslist ads…I see oem ones in good condition occasionally for a decent deal. People take them off to add lighting bling to their truck.
