I haven't bought any for my new truck yet, but w/ my old one the oil was $5.xx and the fuel was $10.xx at a local "big rig" supply place.

I used to order them online for cheaper than that too from a place called EDM Zap, but I don't see Baldwin Filters listed on their website anymore... could always call and ask! (http://www.edmzap.com)

If you don't have a cummins facility near you, just order what you need from genosgarage. Mopar cummins filters are rebadged Fleetguard filters. Not Fram.

Cummins prices for each filter:

Air Filter - AF26106 $11.67

Fuel Filter (Stratopore) - FS19579 $11.97

Oil Filter (Stratopore) - LF16035 $11.56

Which makes it convenient. I've read studies about the amount of filtering media inside the canister compared to other brands and the type of bypass valve, but if you change your oil on a regular basis, none of this will ever be a problem. By the way, a lot of Mopar filters are made by Fram. Same filter, different color.
I to use only fram on all of my equipment for the very reasons you listed and also because if you do some research you will find that filters are like batteries. There are just a few big companys that manufacture them but they put any name they are paid to on them. Why do you guys think that Fleetguard and Fram share some of the same addresses and phone numbers when you get on a corporate level? I have fram filters on all of my equipment right now. I have logged over a million miles on various trucks and god know how many hours on my equipment and have never had a failure or performance problem of any kind. The one thing I noticed about my cummins engines is that the oil is very quick to turn black. Changed from Fleetguard to fram and now at 4,000 miles its just a little darker than when I poured it in. I think the bigg gripe about the fram filters is that they use a cardboard piece on the ends of their filter medias. I use them on all of my stuff and always will. The fuel filters for the Cummins is like $7 and the oil is $5. I will always use them from now on. Just my opinion on fram.

I do not believe that Fram and Fleetgard are the same company.

Fram is owned by Honeywell, Fleetgard by Cummins.

From the Fleetgaurd Website.

Family of Brands
Fleetguard Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cummins, Inc. and is one of its three strategic business units. As a member of the Cummins brand family, we also have similar relationships of which we are very proud.

From the Fram Website:
Honeywell is a diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; turbochargers; automotive products; specialty chemicals; fibers; and electronic and advanced materials. Based in Morris Township, N.J., Honeywell is one of 30 stocks that make up the Dow Jones Industrial Average and is a component of the Standard & Poor's 500 Index. Its shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol HON, as well as on the London, Chicago and Pacific Stock Exchanges. For more information about Honeywell, visit www.honeywell.com.

Never said they were the same. When we deal with the two at work ordering and having meetings with vendors and such, I have noticed that some of the corporate information is the same for the two. Just like our batteries. Probably 85% of the different battery brands I deal with are made by GNB. The rest I deal with are Interstate. You would never know unless you asked someone very high up or toured the assembly plant which is what I did. They try to keep you from seeing all the different names that they print on items but if you look hard enough you can spot them all around on pallets waiting to go out!!!
Cooking flower is the same way. Different bags, same product. Saw that first hand to when at a customers facility one day.

Made in the same plant, looks similar does not mean that the specs are the same. (Does not mean they are different either)
I have worked in manufacturing all of my working career, we make many products that look similar but are in no way equal.

For example fastener companies make different grades of bolts in the same plant grade 2 does not = grade 8 they will fit interchangeable but not perform the same.

Tires-ditto
Shock absorbers-ditto
The same as automotive batteries, built in the same plant in no way means same construction or performance. We OEM many materials from suppliers and they are nearly always made to a apec that we write.

I do not have a negative opinion of fram filters, they are probably OK if you go by the old school change everything in a 3-5k mile interval. Test data from reliable sources will not put a run of the mill fram oil filter at the top of the heap for capacity or efficiency.

baldwin filters and cross referance web site

Update Part numbers on Baldwin Filters

Oil old # BT7339 new # BT7349

Fuel old # PF7654 new # PF7777

I have no personal preference on brands; I would have to think that all major brands would work effectively.

I think its great so many of you spend time on maintenance items. Just doing the maintenance is the important step, right.

Hey, this Baldwin web site has a nice cross referance data base on all filters and all brands.
