Front sway-bar; Is it safe to drive without it?

We've got 5+ ft. of snow here. I got my Dodge stuck last night leaving a buddy's drive way. We were in the process of pulling it out, and my buddy's moron friend hooked the chain to the sway-bar. Needless to say it came off with the first tug, and took the bumper valence and front lic. plate with it. The plate is still buried in the snow somewhere. Is it safe to drive w/o the sway-bar, and where can I get a new one?

Thanks in advance,
Nick

Can you, well yes, do you want to. . . NO! You will get excessive body roll which could result in turning your rig over, I have all my sway bars on my truck, but none on my jeep which is an offroad vehicle only and its scarry driving with out sway bars. . .

Drove around without the sway bar for about a month, noticed very little difference. A little more front end roll in curves, but I got use to it. If you use a little common sense, you should be fine until you get it replaced.

Thanks all. I just won't tow or put a load on it until I get a new one on there.

Thanks again,
Nick

The end links broke on mine and I have been driving it around disconected while waiting for my Carli's to come in. If not loaded, the suspension is stiff enough that you don't realy need it. I have had many vehicles that had stock suspensions with more body roll than this truck.

Ya, what a moron!
Never let anyone connect your truck for a good yank, always do it yourself.
(Guess he never saw the tow hooks?)

Ouch!

I've driven my mustang without one. If it's anything like that I'd recommend not doing it.

I guess it's mostly my fault for not checking the the connection. I don't have tow hooks, but I asked him, "Is it hooked to the frame?" He replied, "Yep." When I yarded the SB off, I yelled, "I THOUGHT YOU HOOKED IT TOO THE FRAME?" He said, "Well around that bar right next to the frame." So I made him watch me hook it up correctly. After I pulled the truck out, I looked for him to chew his butt some more, but my buddy told him to go back to the house before I killed him. As for as the moron piking up the bill, I won't hold my breath.

Well I found the front plate on top of the snow bank. That will save me a few $'s. The Oregon State Police insist you have 2 plates.
