Electrical gremlins ????

Yesterday the drivers seat belt chime and light came on. The red dot on the dash for key recognition came on. The overhead outside temperature went off and just showed -----. The truck ran fine. This would happen for several miles and then clear up, and then do it again. Any ideas???? Also the signal lights would stop in mid signal. Thanks

Did you check for codes by cycling the key?

Sounds like a possible ignition switch issue.

I can't get the key\code trick to work. Tried several times. Must be doing something wrong. Also, the day this happened, when I used my key remote for the doors, they would not unlock. .

Check Battery connections and plug in a OBDII reader

I too had a weired electrical issue that included the factory alarm activating.
Batteries were worn down and connections were corroded.
So remove and clean all four connections.
Then find an autostore with an OBDII reader, many will also diagnose the starter, alternator and batteries free of charge. Then you may have a better idea what to do.

Does not work on my 06 either. Seems like I read on here somewhere a long time ago that 06 and up this trick does not work.

2006 still had the code display option using the key on-off-on-off-on-off-on, can't recall the amount of times of cycle though.

Just got a notification from Chrysler that the warranty on the turn signal switch on my truck has been extended to 10years/150,000miles. Seems like the TS switch may make the interior and exterior lights flash in the opposite direction. Maybe it causes other issues???????????

They ID'd the truck by VIN and included a reimbursement form if you have the switch replaced other than at a dealer.

Well, today the truck is fine. I did check the battery connections and they were fine. The gremlins did clear up before we got home the other day and all seems to fine for now. Thanks for all the help. cdru

Sounds like an erroneous MIL or Code. There are some ECM Flashes out for these trucks for symptoms like the ones you are describing. Check the list for the TSB Bulletin Here: (http://dodgeram.info/tsb/index.html)

Low battery voltage will cause major gremlins to show up with this new fangled elecrical system using can bus technology. I had radio problems till I got new batteries, all cleared up now.
