Electrical Gremlins

Been having some strange problems here lately. Randomly at an idle the tach will read really low, like 250 rpm, sometimes 500. The Outlook Monitor will read 750rpm, and the truck will be idling normal. Also, the temp on the overhead console will sometimes read something CRAZY like -40f and then all of a sudden swap back to the normal temp. Im guessing from what ive read that im also having an issue with the TIPM, as the left turn and brake light wont work on my 4way or either of my 7ways. Are these two related, what the hells going on???

06 2500 CC SB 4x4
Bully Dog Triple Dog, Outlook Monitor, Straight pipe, automatic, 95K on the clock

any feedback appreciated!

My uncle's '06 has the same issue with the tach, though he doesn't care enough to do anything about it. It DOES sound like a TIPM issue though, based on the turn signal issues as well. I've read it was a plague of the '06 model year.

Thats what I was afraid of, but it doesnt happen often enough to bother me that much. Just wanting to see if it was a precursor to bigger problems, or just some "gremlin" that these trucks are notorious for! Thanks for the feedback!

Tach issues are common with the 2006 trucks. Mine would read strange all of the time. The needle was on the wrong side most of the time. I had to have the tach replaced under warranty. Works good so far.

You could try reseting the TIPM by disconnecting both positive battery conections for 2-3hrs. Sometimes reseting the TIPM will fix issues like yours.
