Duel Zone Heating?
Duel Zone Heating?
Hey all, I just picked up my 07 3500 Q/C 4x4 on the 22nd and was on the highway to see the family for christmas on the 23rd. I could not get heat to the passenger side of the truck unless i used recirculate and cranked the heat on the drivers side. Needless to say I was sweating my nutts off and my wife was hardly warm. I dropped it off at the dealer today and they just called and told me they had no problem getting heat to the passenger side!!! The lady at the service desk told me they would have a salesperson show me how to operate it!!
Am I really that stupid that I did not know how to work the heater in my truck?
I tried everything in the three hours of travel and they only way it would work is if I had it on the formentioned settings.
The fan would blow to the passenger side no problem but it blew cold air all the time, I could change the location, but still nothing warm untill it was on recirculate.
Has anyone else had any problems or do you see that maybe I am stupid and could not figure out how to make heat to the passenger side of the cab,
Thanks

The dual climate controls have issues with the blend door. Bring it back and have the sales lady waste her time looking at while you make an appointment to have it fixed.
Ps Good job of not letting the wife drive it so she would be warm. If you let her drive it once she will want to start taking to the mall!!!! And she would park it next to other cars

We seem to have a similar problem with our 06, but it doesn't seem to really even blow out the passenger side vents at all.
My wife was so happy this truck had dual zone, but seems her excitement was a little premature. I will have to take it in, but I'm sure the dealer will give me the "can't duplicate" thing, or possibly the "characteristic of the vehicle" (which they told me about the launch shudder issue).
My wife definetly drives our mega cab more than I like, but she did learn she doesn't like trying to park it at the mall.

I guess I am not as stupid as she thinks!!
Okay...Here we go!
I went to the dealer to pick up my truck after they phoned and said it was ready and I would need to learn from a salesperson how to use the duel Zone heating!!
I went to my salesman who happens to be the Fleet Manager and told him I would need to be shown how to work the duel Zone heating....He looked at me in AWE and said what? I explained to him that the service writer had told me there was nothing wrong and it worked fine I just must not understand how to work it!!
So he came out to the truck with me and I showed him how to work it and he agreed I was'nt as stupid as she had made me sound. He then went and asked the service manager what they did to make the heat work. He said it worked when they got around to checking it, but had also mentioned that when he was programing my high idle and getting rid of the horn chirp when you lock the doors with the key fob that they reset the heater head in the computer.
It has worked fine since so I am suspecting that they had to reset something to do with the heater control board.
Anyways!! Needless to say that it is scarey that the first person you meet at the service dept does'nt know her ACE from a hole in the earth!!
Hope this helps someone!!
Now I am focussed on getting the sirius to work with the existing radio !!

I guess I'm going to have to bring mine in to program that horn chirp disabled as well. Pretty annoying and the manual disable instructions are of NO effect.

Worked for me. I think there was a replacement page (update) to the instructions in the manual when I got mine. I just happened to read it and dissabled the chirp myself.
So what was the cure for the cold air problem? A reprogram? I have heat coming out the passenger side, but I also have cold air coming in as well. The heat comes in on the floor, but the cold air comes in and down from behind the dash. Anyone know.... I'm going to keep searching the board.
Update to my heating problem...Sorry it is a little late. I used the truck all summer and the issue was still not corrected.
The next day after they reset the heater head I had no heat to the passenger side again. I took it back in and they changed out the heater head and that never helped.( They also reinstalled the console incorrectly this time so now I have other repair issues).
I was busy with the truck the whole summer so I could not get it in for repair. I also knew it would be a waste because they would just say they could get it to blow hot air because of the warm weather, I thought I would wait till it cooled off so they could freeze in the truck like we do!
I just took it back in this week and they have ordered a heater housing and door kit for under the dash. But it won't be in for 10-14 days so I am waiting on parts to rebook it for repair. (They could not figure out the console issue!!!" NO PROBLEM FOUND AT THIS TIME")
I can get it to work every now and then if I slide the heat control back and forth really quick lots of times. Sometimes it takes ten minutes. Then it is the same to get it back to cold. This is just for the passenger side, the driver side works fine.
I will update when I take it back in.
