does anyone know how to remove plastic covers on rims
Re:does anyone know how to remove plastic covers on rims
If you mean the cover in the center of the wheel that hides the lugnuts - see above - curb or screwdriver.
If you mean the chrome-thing that seems to cover the spokes of the wheel....I dunno.

moparman2, what plastic are you talking about? The cover over the lug nuts or the chromed plastic that covers the entire wheel?
Question for anyone who has removed the plastic over the entire wheel. What holds it on?

When you do get it off, make darn sure you put it on correctly. If you don't and it falls off somewhere, the plastic ones on my truck are $54 at the dealer.

outer rings comes off with a screwdriver and evenly applying pressure around the entire thing. A hubcap puller is the best tool for the job but not in every homes garage. What holds it in? Pressure and some dlexible materials(best answer I could come up with) Owners manual describes removal and installation of these items fairly well. ;D

Granted I have a 98, but I would think they would be about the same. Like said above, just pop them off with a screwdriver or the end of your lug wrench. There is a ring of "fingers" all the way around that grip the steel rim. Be aware that the paint on the wheel will get scratched pretty bad from the fingers digging in. Here is a hint. If you travel in lots of mud, you may find that enough gets built up behind the cover to really throw the balance off. Because of this, I only run the center caps as construction sites around here do get messy.

Ain't that somethin - plastic! Can't find anything for the 17" dually wheel. Plastic! No alum wheels, no stainless simulators, nothing alum.Just plastic.
I am ashamed of the plastic and took it off. Let the nuts hang out. At least they ain't plastic - yet!

I believe Moparman is talking about if you have the chrome wheels on your truck, how do you take the chrome off.
If you have the chrome wheels, what you really have is a steel wheel with a chromed, plastic cover that is glued onto the wheel.
Moparman, my neighbor builds those wheels, I'll check and see if he may know the best way.

I have the same wheels; I would not have chosen them, if they were not part of the upgrade package....
When I take off the wheel, the chrome seems to be a thin, incomplete veneer over a steel wheel.
Another danged nickel saved... :

I just looked real close at this thing again.
Since I put the 315's on, the oem's are leaning against the garage.
The chrome stuff ends right around the lug nut holes, & it's really thin - maybel 1/32 or 1/16"; I don't think this is designed to be removed...
