How to remove the plastic rivets in the grill?

How do you remove the plastic rivets in the grille insert?, I ordered a honeycomb grille to replace the chrome on that came with the truck, I have a sport graphite color, and would like some change in the appearance, just something different, how do you get those rivets out, without breaking them?

when i swapped my chrome for black, i took the grill off [you will need to do this to access all the rivits] from the hood and layed it down on an old foam matress after cleaning it [don't want to scratch it up too much] and then took a 1/16" pin punch and a small hammer [8oz?] and punched the plastic pins through the rivit. i had a large sheet layed out over the matress so i could find the pins [i did still loose 2 of them ] then just pull the insert out with the rivits. put aside the old inserts, put the new ones on and push the rivit outers into place, then start the pins and tap them in with the hammer [make sure the insert is tight against the grill shell before tapping in the pin]

Dang Graphite!!! I wish I knew you wanted to switch inserts. I just bought the chrome one for mine.......
Now, where do you get the rivets? If it's a Dodge only part, does someone have a part number?

I did mine with the grill still on the truck , you will need to punch or pull out the pin in the middle of the rivets and then remove the rivet,

carefully remove the plastic rivets, then re use them, best done on white bedsheet to make finding all the bits later on ( thats a bit of hindsight for ya )

I haven't even looked at the underside of the grill yet. I'm sure I'll figure out how you reused them. I am a tightwad as some of you already know.... I waited almost 3 years for a great deal on the grill inserts.......

I hit a red tail hawk and he (or was it a she) popped a couple of my plastic rivets out for me. I just pushed them back in. STUPID BIRD!!
