Has anyone tired it? What did you use & how did it turn out?

I had one in my old truck. It was a Herculiner name brand bought at NAPA. It comes with a roller to put it on, but I have a friend with a under coating gun and he sprayed it in. We taped the bed down like we were painting it and had to sand it down ( rough it up so the liner would stick). It worked OK but would peal out when abused and when my kids would set in the back ( we live on a dead end country road) their clothes would turn black. It cost about $100, but if you have a long bed you will need a extra quart. Over all for the money it was OK. Hope this helps.

 

Oh, Do It Yourself. Duh, sorry I'm an idiot, I thought you were talking brand name.
I've seen the roll on kits, never known anyone who tried one, but I've aslo seen people with like a quater inch of Rhino or Line X line, which looked bullet proof to me.

 

Eastwood has some DIY spray in bed liner that looks real interesting. I used the Herculiner in the past and was not happy with it. I also had Linex on my last truck which I liked alot but was expensive.

 

A buddy of mine just bought a new Chevy in Feb. He bought the do it yourself stuff (I think it was rhino or something) He said the instructions said he had to keep it in a room at 90 degrees for 48 hours or some crazy thing. Also the roller he got with it disintegrated halfway though the job. He said ya have to work the stuff real fast. It looked okay at first, but now it has scratches down to the paint in it. He has to pay Line X an extra $100 for them to re prep the bed and respray it the right way.

 

I did it on a flatbed and it worked out real nice it just was alot thinner than the pro stuff and it does not hold up as well either.I spayed with a drywall sprayer. I forget the brand name,I purchased it off e-bay,about 120.00 shipped 2 years ago.

 

Had a friend do a old Bronco floor pans etc.really took his time.Looked like CRAP! Ended up padding and carpeting over it.Said it was a waste of time and money.Should have had it professionaly done.

 

The difference between the Homeowner stuff and the Pro (stuff price wise) is huge though. I worked on a Nursery (3 thousand acre tree farm) a few years back that bought a few new Chevy trucks to replace some early 80's models. They had the spray in lines done before the first piece if dirt hit the beds. I can attest top you that these bes looked Great, Super thick, and everyone basically stood back and talked about how much longer these trcuk beds were going to last with this coating on them. If I remember correctly they were paying over $500.00 per truck, but ran them into the ground so they knew they would get their $'s worth.
I think it was a Line X dealer. Think about the fact that you don't have a plastic bedliner rubbing the paint off and trapping moisture for years. If I had the money I would bed my Duraliner out and have it sprayed blue like the truck.
Ever seen the Glow in the dark Color they have? It's clear during the day and glows green at night.

i have seen it done and would never put such a product on my truck. the price is attractive but there really is no replacement for line-x. sure its expensive but do you hear anyone complaining about it not holding up?

the two barrels that mix to make linex cost $2800 but i think you get what you pay for compared to DIY bedliners.

 

I have seen the stuff but does not seem to hold up. Therefore if you pay $120.00 to $150.00 each time you have to redo it plus the time and labor to re-prep the bed your better off getting the line-x for $450.00 for the first and last time as it's also warrantied for life. Just my .02.

A buddy of mine used Durabak inside and outside of his 2004 Jeep Rubicon. It has held up remarkabley well. Even in the rear "tub" where he ties down his cooler and tool box when we go offroading, the stuff has held up well. I plan on using it in the bed of my M37 this summer.
