Real world Mileage ?
Real world Mileage ?
Come on now...no Big Fish stories here
So with out a heavy foot and non-towing what mpg's could I pull from a new 2500 Diesel 3.73 rear quad cap (auto trany) 4x4 ? .........(no 3.55's anymore...bummer)
PS I'm one to stay pretty much within the speed limit.
thanks for any feedback, getting closer to pulling the trigger on a new vehicle.

Well, with 16K on mine the best ever I have gotten was 17.2 (65-70mph hand calculated). Lowest was 14.6 (tooling around town). Numbers are all empty. My milage has stayed the same since I left the lot. I have 285's on mine, so that may keep me from the 20 or over club?
I wish my "real world" numbers looked like that!
My truck gets 14.0 80% hw 20% city. Thats driving it easy!
To tell you the truth I don't think it matters how much city or highway driving I do it is always
between 13 and 14 unloaded.

I'll preface this by saying that I'm pretty confident with my numbers. I fill up at the same pump every time and I always fill up to the top of the neck. Mileage is hand calculated using my Nokia cell phone calculator.
That said, my everyday driving gets, on average, 18.6 mpg. On trips where it's all highway, with the cruise set on 70 mph, it gets between 21 and 22 mpg.
I run empty all the time and my truck has 41,200 miles on it. My everyday driving would be considered "mixed", but leans more towards city driving.

mine has 6000 miles and has never seen summer fuel the best I get is 16 lite on the hiway and the speed limit is 70 so that is what I do. When I get on the interstate where the speed is 75 it drops from there. In town about 11.

my driving is a even mix of hwy/city driving. in the last few weeks i have started a game with myself on trying to increase my mileage since fuel prices around here have reached an all time high. here is a link to the game: Click Here
in using this method i can consistantly get 16 mpg in town and almost 20 mpg on the highway. if i go back to my regular driving habits i can only manage 13-14 mpg in town and 16-18 on the highway.
