Disable backup horn...trying to find wire

I am trying to locate the wire from my steering wheel to the horn so I can put in a switch to disable the horn if I want to back up with my door open. I am reluctant to poke too many of the wires with the test light since the airbags are in there too.
Has anyone done this on a 2003 Ram? Do you know the wire color?

YOu can disable it by just pulling the horn fuse also. I never could figure out an easy way to find the wire.

I don't want to pull the fuse since then I have no horn at all. I just want to be able to temporarily disable it with a toggle switch in the cab.

better to tap wires under the hood than steering column. According to 2004 wiring diagram DG/OR (from horn relay)feeds both low and high note horns. BK/OR grd high note and BK/DB grd low note.

Another option is to fasten the seat belt.

I don't have a late model truck. But if pulling the fuse works, an option would be to use spade terminals and wire in a switch (with a inline fuse of course) across the port.

Jumper the two wires together on the driver side seat belt latch. The connector is under the drivers seat.

I always just fasten the seat belt across the seat when I'm trying to back up the trailer with the door open.
