Disable The Horn When Door Opens?

I notice on my 05 that if I open the drivers door while the engine is running, it makes the horn honk once...............can this be disabled?

Horn Removal

If you get a bullydog tripledog or know someone that has one and will remove it and install it in your truck you can go into the options and remove that. Then remove the downloader from your truck and put it back in theirs and your truck won't bother ya any more.

I really hope you are joking about pulling that fuse. That is putting many at risk when you are out on the road.

As for the horn honk, it is all part of a recall that DC put out last year that reprogrammed ALL of the computers, installed or not installed ones, that if the vehicle is not completely in park when the door opens, the horn will honk. The dealership told me that he had tried everything he could think of to get it off, but he couldn't. He even went to the extreme of replacing the computer, but the new one had already been reprogrammed.

I had never heard that any performance programmers could do that. Are you sure?

Nope, I am not kidding. When I come to work at 5 in the morning and pick up the newspaper in the drive my neighbors aren't excited about the horn blowing. So for now I have a $35,000 truck without a horn. I see a GMC in my near future if I don't get a fix for this. It bothers me that bad.

please explain?

i can't find the horn for the air bag most of the time anyways.

i got out to cut my wires to the horn once, could not find the horn (was in dress clothes)

pulling the fuse soudns better than cuttin the wires.

i back out of my driveway in the AM, and the windows are frosted over.

who's neighbor wants to hear a horn blasting in the morning? mine are retired, or house wife's.

it's embarassing to have a truck that does that. it's like screaming "i'm too STOOOPID to buy a truck that has a functioning gear shifter"

off to pull that fuse...thanks for the idea.

I've reloaded with BD a few times - stock, tow, perf - it did not affect mine.

I am a little confused...

He said the horn honks Once ...

Doesn't the recall only affect the truck if it is in reverse, no seatbelt and no parking braks set while it is running.. then it is as if the alarm is going off.

I am not sure what the One toot of the horn would be.. My 05 doesn't do it.. I also don't have the recall done either.

I was under the impression it honks until put in park or door shuts...
I dont think it matters about the belt, or parking brake, etc, just if the truck is in reverse with the door open....
Im not messing with it...

I may sure the truck is in park, and on a grade or near something that I really dont want to hit(in reverse) I set the brake...

I am about tired of messing with it myself. I made pictures of the truck yesterday. 2 weeks of this crap is about all I can stand, I think I will just see if I can sell this thing to somebody else and let them fool with it.

rcu316, How is it that you can get out of the truck to pick up the paper and leave the truck in gear with the door open and your foot off of the brake so that the horn system activates? I would think that the truck would run off without you, which by the way is what the honking horn in reverse recall is tryng to prevent. Don't get me wrong I think it is the drivers responsibility to make sure that the truck is in park but there are some that could not do that so dodge was forced to come up with some kind of fix for it.
