debadging
I had the bumper before the truck, so I put that on. Then I did the stainless nerf boards thinking that would be the end. Then, what about someone flinging a door into the side of the truck - found a set of Laramie mouldings for cheap, but didn't like DC's lower placement, so I located them higher. Then started thinkin' about rock chips from the gravel roads to the farm, so stainless rocker panels went on and inserts for the wheel wells. Then the black door handles looked out of place, so those were taken care of. Of course, regular ventvisors would have been wrong, so chrome we went. Then, after over a month away at work, I came home, looked, and the funky '07 red tail lights stuck out like a sore thumb, so my parts guy set me up with covers for them. The front door badges and the non-symetrical tailgate badges needed to go. And now we're here.
That is the exterrior transformation story. Now, I'm content that the solid Khaki color is now accented perfectly. Kind of like power mods - can't stop until the right combination is achieved. Other than that explanation, I have no idea why I did it. Maybe it's because the ladies like shiny things.
It's shiny in the pics here, but rest assured it'll be covered in mud towing the gear out to our area for spring black bear hunting shortly and big game in the fall.
Ahh! I can't take it with me when I die.....might as well spend it now.
I debadged mine last week. I couldn't find an eraser wheel anywhere around here, so after the fishing line, I used my son's playdough plastic knife, then some Goo Gone. I went to an auto paint store after and was told rubbing alcohol would get the rest of the glue off. Truck looks much better, even the Mrs. thinks so.
Since my truck's two years old, I have the shadows, i.e. you can see where the 2500 and tailgate badges were when the light hits the patriot blue paint. Will rubbing compound get rid of this, or if not, what will? Thanks!

I did some more searching after posting that and read alot of members using that. I stopped at an auto paint store this afternoon, and told them about that and the scuff marks I have on my tailgate and they recommended No. 7 Polishing Compound. I have to go easy with it, but it should take care of everything.
Anyone else use No. 7 Polishing Compound before? 3rd one down here: http://www.cyclo.com/no_7.asp

I did mine yesterday with a plastic putty knife and the 3M eraser/pinstripe removal wheel. All told about an hour and a quarter to do it all. I left on the Cummins emblems and the ram's head on the tailgate. Looks like a whole different truck!
I debadged my truck about 5 months ago. I used the fishing line trick to remove it, one I got the emblems off I got a hair dryer to get the gummy tape off. I also used a putty knife which was a big no no for me, it came off super easy but it left some swirl marks after all was said and done. I like my "Dodge" & "4x4" on the tailgate, I think it looks decent but I might put the "C's" back on, im still undecided about that though.
Does anyone have any photos of the Cummins "C" badge that has been moved somewhere else on the truck?? I'm looking at adding the bushwhacker pocket style fender flares and will have to move them somewhere else - I too like that badge and definitely want to keep them somewhere... thanks!
