Debadging my tailgate

My truck was recently in the body shop to get the drivers side repainted after it was back into and down the side of the truck. So I had the body shop leave the emblems off the drivers side and take the emblems of the passenger side of my truck to match it. Now they didn't do my tailgate. There was a little fading where the 2500 emblem is but it looks like they took a buffer to it. Now if i peel the vinyl off the gate and its faded is there anything i can do to blend it in or do something to the paint to make it look not as obvious? Would buffing over where the vinyl was do anything? Or should i just live with it and let it fade over time? I keep my truck really clean all the time and I'm a little OCD about it too. Thanks for any replies.
Matt

I removed all of my badges. the fading isnt a problem, its how the paint shrinks under the adhesive, it allmost looks like a lip. the best thing to do is hit it lightly with some 2000 grit wet and buff the whole gate. just buffing it looks ok, but as it gets dirty its very noticeable

I would rip the vinyl off if thats what you want to do and then go to o'riellys or something and get a pinstripe removal wheel it will nock all the adhesive off the tailgate without hurtin it. Are you removing the letters also? Cause that is prolly where you will notice most of your fading. And if you are that rubber eraser wheel will take those off in a jiff also. Then just get ya a good rotory buffer with a decent cutting compound and buff then polish, shouldnt be to noticable when your done.
