Getting ready to debadge our new 4th generation... have done this before and understand how to take 'em off... but here's the question:

The Dodge emblem appears to be slightly recessed into the tailgate... however, it could be an optical illusion... I can't tell. Can anyone confirm one way or the other based on actual experience? I really don't want to peel the thing off and find out I have to put it back on because it leaves a depression in the tailgate.

 

It is slighty recessed and when removed leave an indention that would have to be filled to be flush.

 

Thanks... glad to know for sure before I pry it off. Guess I'll leave that one on there... maybe paint the whole thing flat black to go with the theme I'm working on here...

 

How about taking it off, painting it, installing a couple LEDs, multicolored even, and wire them up to the tail lights and brake lights...

I considered something like that... If that emblem were all black with red eyes that light up it could be a good look... But She Who Must Be Obeyed veto'd that idea and threatened my life... So maybe I'll just paint it black. Btw, not only is it recessed into the tailgate, but there are clips that penetrate the sheetmetal... I checked it out from inside via the access panel... I would have likely broken it taking it off...
