daytime running lights

Recently purchased a 2006 2500 4x4 and daytime running lights come on when truck is shifted out of park which I think is normal but when left signal light is activated, left daytime light shuts off and when right signal is activated right daytime light shuts off, this truck is originally from the us and was reflashed for Canada any ideas why lights are shutting off when signals are activated ???

Mine does it to. I'm guessing it's so the person in front of you can see your going to turn the direction indicated.

yes exactly, its for safety, they figured it would allow the signal to be more visible, if you live in the us you can get the country code changed to us and disable the drl's if you do not like them,

Kind of retarded in a way. Doesn't do it when the headlights are on, and they're brighter than the DRL's.

It provides more contrast for the signal in daylight, when most people won't have the full headlights on. At night, there is plenty of contrast, even with the headlights on.

I sorta like it.. Sure get peoples attention if you can get your left-right-left-right-left cadence going... (Sorry Jack!)

My '06 does the same thing. I really dont like it. I have had people park next to me and tell me that I have a headlight out numerous times. I decided to just turn off the drl with the bully dog.
