Depends on what you want to do with them. I sometimes like powder coating too.

Chrome is nice and looks great, but a lot of work must be done to keep them looking great. I was mine then hose them off from time to time. This keeps the brake dust down. Steel rusts.

Alloys are nice, but they have issues. The scratch easier and aren't as easily repaired. Allows don't rust.

It's a trade off. I had alloys before and went steel this time.

Alloy's all the way. The chromers remind me too much of a cheap stamped wheel you would get on an F-150 Custom or XL.

I have both!!!

I purchased (exchange) a set of chromed OEM alloys. I think they're actually easier to take care of than the powder-coated finish. The brake dust doesn't seem to stick to them as easily. They look a little like the chrome clads from a distance, but have more depth close up. I will take some pics and post if anyone's interested.

I like the alloys because they don't rust.

There was a recent thread on this subject. Maybe 2 or 3 months ago. Try a search. I think you'll find that the chrome wheels will eventually rust.

I'm not sure how the new aluminum wheels do 4-wheelin' but folks used to buy steel wheels for 4-wheelin' to eliminate the breakage common with magnesium wheels.

One of my alloy's balanced out practically true. The others are near perfect. Strong too.
