I secured it with a 1 1/4 flat strap that I slid between both of the only cross members on the roof and bolted them at the dome light and at the little info box "that lies often" between the sunvisors with self taping sheet metal screws. Wish I would of taken pics of the install but. spur of the moment thing . Anyways it will be staying put unless I decide to hang myself from it and that aint going to happen any time soon.

 

Here is a picture of my setup for mounting a 2M HAM and a VHF business band radio. I need to figure out a cupholder solution, but I wanted to make the mount without drilling into the truck. The alumninum plate is sandwiched between seat mount brackets.
